I’ve always loved a delicious beetroot curry; a vegetable less commonly known to be a local Sri Lankan favourite. With an irresistable balance of spicy and sweet, beetroot compliments almost any combination of dishes; from chicken, fish to a selection of other vegetables.
There is some truly mouthwatering cuisine to be enjoyed amidst the ever growing restaurant scene in Colombo; from a diverse fanfare of international favourites to Sri Lanka’s specialty of rice and curry (both traditional and fusion), there’s something to stimulate everyones senses in the big city.
Fresh, local produce is plentiful and widely available in a variety of mouth-watering dishes across Sri Lanka. There are also likely to be many foods you haven’t tried or perhaps even heard of before which alone is one of the many highlights of visiting this beautiful country; making your joyful way through the diversity of indigenous foods & local cuisine.
